The 2025 edition of Packaging Première & PCD Milan opened its gates yesterday, May 13: the trade show dedicated to high-end packaging made an impressive debut: hosted at Allianz MiCo, the event is expected to host over 8,300 visitors, confirming its growing relevance in the European packaging scene.
From nature-inspired materials to digitally enhanced creativity, this year’s edition of Packaging Première Milan explored the fusion between sustainable innovation and aesthetic excellence. Brands and suppliers showcased bold prototypes and new formats designed not just to protect, but to impress. Biodegradable films, refillable solutions, and tactile finishes reflected the industry’s shift toward circularity without compromising on luxury.
Among the most talked-about trends were AI-generated artworks applied to packaging, and the revival of glass and aluminium as premium, recyclable materials. Special attention was also given to storytelling, with packs that speak of heritage, identity, and emotional experience. More than a fair, Packaging Première is becoming a cultural observatory for the future of packaging, where design meets purpose and imagination shapes the products we choose.
But the really interesting fact is the growing interest surrounding the fair, which could soon establish Milan as one of the most important centres for the sector (in competition with Paris, maybe?).
It would be a further step towards crowning Milan as the world capital of design. Having already become an international fashion trendsetter and astonished everyone with its ability to redefine spaces and the objects that inhabit them, it is now setting its sights on functional design, because lifestyle encompasses that too! And what sector embodies this, better than packaging? After all, Italy is one of the countries with the deepest roots in the packaging industry, boasting a long tradition of production and design often associated with iconic products.
