Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ultra

A new milestone in sustainable luxury packaging: Johnnie Walker, the popular Diageo’s classic whisky, has introduced Blue Label Ultra, a limited-edition whisky that sets new benchmarks in sustainable luxury packaging. The release features the world’s lightest 70cl Scotch whisky bottle, weighing just 180 grams.

Developed over five years, the bottle combines advanced glass technology with luxury craftsmanship. Its teardrop shape, a departure from the brand’s traditional square design, was achieved in collaboration with Turkish glassmaker Şişecam. The design not only reduces material usage, but also helps reduce carbon emissions in production.

Complementing the launch, Johnnie Walker has partnered with North American artists and The Corning Museum of Glass to create unique pieces inspired by the bottle’s design. These artworks will be showcased at upcoming NYCxDesign in May, 2025.

Only 888 bottles of Blue Label Ultra will be produced, with availability in North America starting May 1, 2025. The suggested retail price is set at $1,250, making this product a real gem for collectors.

But the most important news is not about the product itself: it’s about corporate social responsibility. To promote industry-wide adoption of sustainable practices, Diageo has made the bottle’s patented design available royalty-free. An important decision that marks a turning point for sustainability across the entire industry.
