The ability to answer these questions accurately is becoming a critical business capability.

Packaging is evolving from product to system

Historically, packaging was viewed mainly as a physical object: something to protect products, support logistics and communicate brand identity.

Today it functions as part of a larger system that connects materials, regulations, manufacturing, supply chains, recyclers and consumers. A single package may now carry hundreds of data points covering composition, environmental performance, sourcing, compliance and end-of-life management.

As sustainability expectations rise, packaging performance is no longer judged solely by how a package looks or functions, but by how well information can move alongside it.
